We come to learn that The Seven formed their friendship while serving as Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy.  As instructors on the Academy's parachute team, “The Wings of Blue,” they were already a tight-knit group.   But their true bond formed on 9/11 as they helplessly watched so many Americans lose their lives.  Devastated by their inability to make a difference that day, they swore an oath to protect each other at all costs.  They marked the occasion by branding their left wrist with the roman numeral VII.  That oath has never been put to the test… until now.

We begin eight years later, with the kidnapping of the seventh member (Chris Wills).  While working undercover operations for the DEA in Colombia, Wills is taken hostage by a ruthless druglord.  The ensuing inaction of the U.S. government becomes the catalyst which drives the remaining members of the brotherhood to take matters into their own hands.  In the process of putting together a rescue mission, they come into contact with Wills’ sister, Sarah, who is a journalist with a global wire service (she will become the next member of The Seven).  Together, they work to get her brother back before it is too late.  In the operation that follows, one of their own is killed, a fortune is found, and an ongoing U.S. government conspiracy is exposed.
